Escape From Alcatraz™ Triathlon Announces Official Lineup of Events for the Upcoming 2023 Race Weekend

SAN FRANCISCO – (June 8, 2023) IMG, a global leader in sports and events, is gearing up for the 42nd annual Escape from Alcatraz Triathlon, taking place Saturday, June 10 and Sunday, June 11 in San Francisco. The anticipated race weekend will bring athletes, fans and spectators from all over the world to witness the great Escape while enjoying a variety of activations taking place throughout the weekend.

As the world’s most sought-after race, the Escape from Alcatraz Triathlon will take over the City by the Bay [or hills of San Francisco] welcoming Olympians, world champions, ardent age groupers and challenged athletes, and triathletes, as well as hundreds of locals and spectators. Featuring 33-time participant Eric Gilsenen, former Escape participant and pro triathlete Julie Moss, and Mike Wattigny as official announcers for the events, this race weekend will be a can’t-miss event.

• Pro Panel - On Friday, June 9, Sports Basement will host a Pro Panel where six pros will share their Escape From Alcatraz Triathlon experiences. This year’s panel will include 2022 winner Eric Lagerstrom, Olympian Brent McMahon, Marc Dubrick, Danielle Lewis, Vittoria Lopez, and Olivia Dietzel. Ahead of the panel, newbies and those looking for additional race tips will be welcome to attend an info session to receive more information about the race course.
• Marina Green - Throughout the weekend, Marina Green will be the perfect place for pre-race activities for the whole family. Featuring a two-day Fitness Festival, free and open to the public, guests will be welcomed to explore merchandise vendors such as Sports Basement, Aquasphere, and Kitbrix, among others; food trucks including local favorites Cochinita and Mozzeria; a beer and wine garden hosted by R.O.C.K (Real Options for City Kids) with all proceeds benefiting the organization; experiential displays and sample products including items from official Hydration Partner, Prime, and much more. Adding to the excitement, VIP attendees will be
  welcomed to the Arrowhead VIP area where they can enjoy catered food and premier finish line viewing.
• Race Days - The official race weekend will kick off on Saturday, June 10 with the Escape Aquathlon. Now in its third year, the popular race will feature a 750-meter swim and a 5-kilometer run. The official Escape from Alcatraz Triathlon will take place on Sunday, June 11 where 2,000 athletes from all over the world will compete in one of the most challenging, multi-sports events in the world. Making for an even more exciting affair, the famed triathlon will welcome participants to the Collegiate ESCAPE, featuring undergraduate and graduate school student triathletes competing in teams from UC Berkeley, UC San Diego, and UC Santa Barbara, as well as the Corporate ESCAPE featuring corporations and organizations from all over, and this year Salesforce will return to reclaim their trophy “Keys to the Rock.''
