Charity Partners

The Escape from Alcatraz Triathlon partners with a number of charities that have race spots available to the public.

Each charity provides their own requirements for entry into the race, primarily through a fundraising program. This is a great way to guarantee your entry into the race and help a worthy cause in the process.

Check out our confirmed 2021 Escape From Alcatraz Triathlon charities below. If you are interested in donating or racing for one of these charities, please contact the charity directly via their respective websites linked here. They each have a limited number of slots, so contact them early to secure your spot!

The Healy Foundation (THF) supports high-achieving college juniors and seniors of financial need who experience unexpected hardship, such as the death of a parent, health crises, and other financial burdens that threaten to derail their education and future. THF provides financial assistance as well as mentorship and career guidance that has enabled scholars to graduate and flourish at top firms such as PWC, rank in the top five percent of Temple University’s Law School class, and excel in MIT’s Chemical Engineering PhD program.

THF was created to honor James P. and Debra Fitzgerald Healy by their ten children. Without the benefit of college degrees and with the belief that an education is the greatest gift one can provide a child, Jim and Debra dedicated their lives to educating their ten children. As a school custodian and a nighttime deliveryman, Jim worked countless hours to provide the financial means necessary to support a family of twelve while Debra shouldered the responsibility of raising ten children. Jim and Debra’s unwavering commitment to education inspired their children to establish this foundation and pay forward “the gift of education”.

The Challenged Athletes Foundation® (CAF) is a world leader in helping people with physical challenges lead active, healthy lifestyles. CAF believes that participation in physical activity at any level increases self-esteem, encourages independence and enhances quality of life. Since 1994, more than $112 million has been raised and over 26,000 funding requests from people with physical challenges in all 50 states and dozens of countries have been satisfied. Additionally, CAF’s outreach efforts impact another 60,000 individuals each year. Whether it’s a $2,500 grant for a handcycle, helping underwrite a carbon fiber running foot not covered by insurance, or arranging enthusiastic encouragement from a mentor who has triumphed over a similar challenge, CAF’s mission is clear: give opportunities and support to those with the desire to live active, athletic lifestyles.
