Random Drawing Procedure

The 2024 Escape From Alcatraz Triathlon Random Drawing is now closed.

If you did not receive an invitation to register in the 2023 Escape From Alcatraz Triathlon, you can sign up for the waitlist. Waitlist sign ups will be notified closer to the event if slots become available.

 Online registration to enter the random drawing opens. - September 21st, 2023

OCT 2023

 There will be 2 rounds of random drawing.

The names of the 1st round Random Drawing selected athletes will be posted online the end of October.

NOV 2023

1st round of Random drawing winners MUST click on their unique registration link sent via email, complete registration, and complete payment in order to be officially registered in the race. 1st round of Random drawing winners MUST complete the registration by the registration deadline provided. There are NO EXCUSES and NO EXCEPTIONS to this deadline. Entry is first-come, first-served, and spots are limited, so we may close early depending on capacity.

The 2nd selection round closes mid November.

The names of the selected athletes in 2nd drawing will be posted online following the close of Round 2.

For the second selection round, this MUST be completed by the registration deadline provided. There are NO EXCUSES and NO EXCEPTIONS to this deadline. Entry is first-come, first-served, and spots are limited, so we may close early depending on capacity.
  • A maximum of 2,000 participants are allowed in the race. A majority are selected through the random drawing procedure.
  • Participants will be chosen from the following groups in order:
    • Those who have competed 3 or more times (in the Escape from Alcatraz Triathlon)
    • Open random draw from all those remaining
      (The drawing is selected at random by computer, however, the selection process will ensure the selection of at least one male and one female from all 50 states and at least 10% international participation

*Professionals, Challenged Athletes, Open Relay Teams, and Corporate ESCAPE Teams will participate in open registration and are not subject to selection through the random drawing procedure. Challenged Athletes and Relay Teams will be accepted on a first come, first serve basis.
