2020 Random Drawing Registration

The Random Drawing for the 2020 Escape from Alcatraz Triathlon is open from Septemeber 10th through November 18th! Entering the random drawing is free and open to everyone (must be a minimum of 18 years old to enter).

2020 Relay Team Participation

Open Relay registration is open from November 14th until all slots are claimed. Relay team slots are limited and will be first-come, first-served.


2020 Charity Slots

A limited amount of entry slots will be reserved for Charities. If you are a Charity Foundation and wish to purchase entry slots or are a triathlete interested in which Charities have available entry slots, CLICK HERE.

2019 Pro Participation

Professional athletes will qualify for the Escape from Alcatraz Triathlon by competing in the Escape Triathlon Series. For more information about the Escape Triathlon Series and how to qualify, please email us at professionalathletes@escapeseriestri.com



2019 Deferrals

For those who received a deferral from the 2019 Escape from Alcatraz Triathlon, you should receive an in mid-late September with registration instructions.



2020 Registration & Deferment Policy

Entry Fee: $750
  • Race entry
  • Build Your Own Race Bag - All paid EFAT participants will have the opportunity to build their own custom race bag!
  • Premium athlete shirt

Refund: There will be no refunds, no exceptions.

Transfers: There are no transfers (giving up your spot to another person), except for relay team members - *see note below.

NEW Deferrals:

Due to an influx of deferral requests year after year, we modified our deferment policy in 2018. Our ability to deliver an incredible event requires having an accurate count of confirmed participants, as well as, giving sufficient notice to those on the wait list as deferments are confirmed.   

See below for our deferment parameters. We encourage you to take a detailed look at your calendar before registering to minimize the risk of a scheduling conflict. We understand accidents, injuries, and other unexpected events happen every day. Life is unpredictable, but fair warnings are appreciated, to help us continue to accommodate the rest of the field. Please read and understand the new deferral policy BEFORE you commit to racing in the 2020 Escape from Alcatraz Triathlon.   

NEW Deferrals:
 Participants competing as individuals (does not apply to relay teams*) may defer to the following year for medical emergency and military order reasons only. Proof of medical injury or condition that prohibits you from competing via a doctor's note must be emailed to info@escapealcatraztri.com no later than May 25, 2020.   

You will not be refunded your 2020 entry fee, as this will reserve your slot in 2021. Participants granted a deferment will need to pay an additional deferment fee when confirming their 2021 slot. The fee amount will correspond to the date the request and doctor's note are sent to info@escapealcatraztri.com.   

Deferment Fee Schedule 
 •             Request sent on or before April 27, 2020: $250 
 •             Request sent between April 28, 2020 - May 25, 2020: $375   

There will be no deferrals for 2020 participants granted after May 25, 2020. No exceptions.  

*There are no refunds or deferrals for relay teams or team members. Relay team members must find a replacement.
